Charlotte Rose Secures Top Ten Finish at Radial Worlds
After spending a week battling challenging conditions on the waters of Sakaiminato City, Japan, Charlotte Rose (Houston, Texas) has secured ninth place overall at the 2019 Laser Radial World Championships. Other strong American finishes include performances from two-time Olympian, Paige Railey (Clearwater, Fla.), and Trofeo Sofia Bronze Medalist, Erika Reineke (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.). Railey finished the event in 12th overall and Reineke finished 21st.

Upon conclusion of the final races at the 2019 Hempel Youth Sailing World Championships, four U.S. athletes have earned the title of Youth World Champions. Maddie Hawkins (Edgewater, Md.) and Yumi Yoshiyasu (Houston, Texas) claimed gold medals in the Girls International 420 fleet, while Berta Puig (Miami, Fla.) and Bella Casaretto (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) were victorious in the Girls 29er fleet.

US Sailing has made an important addition to the racing at the 2019 U.S. Junior Women’s Doublehanded Championship for the Ida Lewis Trophy, hosted by the San Diego Yacht Club. For the first time in event history, the Championship will feature two events – the Club 420 and 29er. The 2019 U.S. Junior Women’s Doublehanded Championship is sponsored by Sperry and Zim Sailing.

Tomorrow, the world’s best youth sailors will begin racing at the pinnacle youth sailing competition, the 2019 Hempel Youth Sailing World Championships. In Gdynia, Poland, more than 400 sailors representing 66 nations will compete across nine youth disciplines. The events include Boy’s and Girl’s 29er, 420, RS:X, and Laser Radial, as well as the Mixed Nacra 15 class.

This week, sailors will head to the breezy San Francisco Bay area for the 2019 U.S. Junior Women’s Singlehanded Championship for the Nancy Leiter Clagett Memorial Trophy. The Championship occurs annually at various organizations around the country. Each year, the event hosts female singlehanded sailors to compete for the winner’s title. This year, Richmond Yacht Club will host 43 sailors, competing across two classes. Racing begins tomorrow, Thursday, July 11 and will conclude Saturday, July 13.

Annually, this US Sailing National Championship welcomes the top competitive U.S. youth sailors under 20. This year, the Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club will host 83 youth sailors, competing across four classes. The event begins Friday, June 21 and will run through Tuesday, June 25.
