Olympic Classes

US Sailing Team (Olympic Classes)

Each year, based on posted requirements, US Sailing's Olympic Sailing Committee (OSC) selects eligible athletes to represent their country as members of the US Sailing Team. The procedures and requirements for 2019 US Sailing Team Selection and Funding were published July 13, 2018.

2018 Olympic Test Event

The 2018 Olympic Test Event will be held in Enoshima, Japan from September 9-16, 2018 (selection procedures published February 5, 2018)

2019 Pan American Games Team

The 2019 Pan American Games will be held in Lima, Peru from July 26 to August 11, 2019. The sailing events will run from August 3-10 across 10 classes (selection procedures published February 5, 2018; amended October 22, 2018).

2019 Olympic Test Event

The 2019 Olympic Test Event will be held in Enoshima, Japan. World Sailing has not yet published the NoR for the event, but the dates are expected to be August 15-22, 2019 (selection procedures published August 23, 2018).

2020 Olympic Games Team

The 2020 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXXII Olympiad, will be held from July 24 to August 9, 2020 in and around Tokyo, Japan. Fifteen athletes will represent the United States of America in ten Olympic classes. US Sailing is responsible for selecting and supporting the members of Team USA, many or all of whom will be drawn from the roster of the US Sailing Team. The selection procedures for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games have not yet been published.

Youth Classes

Youth Worlds Team

Each year, US Sailing’s Olympic Sailing Committee (OSC) will select one eligible prospective athlete in each of the single‐handed classes and one team of two eligible prospective athletes for each of the double‐handed classes to represent their country at the Youth Sailing World Championships. The 2019 event will be held in Gdynia, Poland, July 14‐21, 2019 (selection procedures published August 17, 2018).

Youth Olympic Games Team

The 2018 Youth Olympic Games will take place October 6-18, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. World Sailing has determined that the maximum quota per NOC is 3 male and 3 female athletes in Windsurfer (Techno 293+), Kiteboarding (IKA Twin Tip Racing), and Two-Person Multihull (Nacra 15). The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) has determined that a maximum of 4 athletes, regardless of gender, will represent the United States at the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in the sport of Sailing (selection procedures amended June 28, 2018).
