Preview: What’s on the Line at Hempel World Cup Series Miami

MIAMI, Fla. (January 24th, 2019) – In five days, racing will begin at the 2019 Hempel World Cup Series Miami (HWCSM). The United States has a large and talented collection of sailors competing at the second World Cup event of the 2019 series, including 57 entries and 85 total sailors. The top eligible U.S. athlete(s) who finish in 10th place or higher in their class at the HWCSM will also qualify for selection to the 2019 US Sailing Team. The event is also a country and athlete* qualifier for the Pan American Games.

US Sailing Team Training Camp Kicks-Off with Sustainability Initiatives

On Sunday, January 14th, the USST and Olympic Development Program athletes were joined by local and foreign sailors and volunteers who participated in the US Sailing Coconut Grove Coastal Clean-Up. The event was organized by US Sailing in partnership with VolunteerCleanup.Org and was sponsored by World Sailing. Upwards of 100 individuals collected over 850 pounds of trash from the mangroves lining Kennedy Park and Prime Point Marina. The USST athletes also took part in a workshop specifically designed to help identify how to become ‘change makers’ and reduce plastic pollution.

US Sailing Releases Tokyo 2020 Olympic Trials System

US Sailing Olympic Sailing Committee (OSC) has released the selection procedures for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Sailing Team. The Games of the XXXII Olympiad will take place from July 24 through August 9, 2020. The sailing events will take place at the Enoshima Yacht Harbour venue in Enoshima, Japan. Up to 15 athletes will have the opportunity to represent the U.S. in one of the 10 sailing events.
