SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (August 2, 2021) – US Sailing and US Sailing Team premier sponsor Kilroy Realty is hosting a Sustainability Day for youth sailors in the San Francisco Bay Area on Friday, August 13, 2021 at Crissy Field.
Sailing centers throughout the country have been awarded grants to grow youth sailing utilizing STEM and environmental education through the US Sailing Reach Initiative. The grants provide non-profit sailing centers with funds and resources to further their Reach program goals and provide more opportunities for students in their community.
It is International Day of Women and Girls in Science on Thursday, February 11! We would like to recognize US Sailing Reach Instructor Mary Dowd. Mary is the Program Director at New England Science & Sailing (NESS).

Sailing centers in the Southern California and Midwest regions have been awarded Reach Hub grants to grow youth sailing through STEM and environmental education as part of the US Sailing Reach Initiative. Congratulations to the Mission Bay Aquatic Center, US Sailing Center Long Beach, Newport Sea Base, Orange Coast College School of Sailing & Seamanship, Westwind Sailing, and Columbia Sailing School.
US Sailing’s Reach program has released it’s 2019 Impact Report. Launched in 2012, Reach is US Sailing’s STEM education initiative. Since it’s inception, Reach has had an immeasurable impact on youth across the country who are learning Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math concepts using sailing as an educational platform.

The Extreme Sailing Series™ will return to San Diego for the second consecutive year on October 18-21 and the US Sailing Education Zone will be a featured attraction for attendees again. The US Sailing Education Zone will provide fun learning activities for people of all ages as part of the US Sailing Reach Initiative for STEM education and sport outreach. Through interactive and hands-on activities, event attendees will have the opportunity to learn about science, technology, engineering and mathematics through the sport of sailing and sustainability.
