CHICAGO, Ill. (November 18, 2019) – The US Sailing Nominating Committee named new members of the US Sailing’s Board of Directors who were officially elected on Friday, November 15, 2019 at US Sailing’s Annual Meeting in Chicago, hosted by the Chicago Yacht Club.

The newly elected members of US Sailing’s Board of Directors are Henry Brauer (Marblehead, Mass.), Clerc Cooper (New Orleans, La.), and Tony Rey (Newport, R.I.). Brauer and Cooper will serve a three-year term. Rey will serve a one-year term.

In other developments regarding US Sailing’s Board of Directors, Bill Ruh (Del Mar, Calif.) was nominated and approved to serve on the Board for the US Sailing Foundation replacing outgoing member, Ron White (South Bend, Ind.).

“We are excited to be working so closely with this dedicated group of leaders, volunteers, and sailors,” said Cory Sertl, President of US Sailing. “The members of our Board of Directors all have a very special and unique connection to sailing with a wide range of experiences in the sport. We are looking forward to learning from one another, so we can collaboratively advance the sport of sailing in the U.S. and serve the members of US Sailing.”

“We also want to thank our outgoing Board members, Sally Barkow, Tarasa Davis, and Ron White for their service to US Sailing and the sport,” added Sertl. “Tarasa’s leadership with our strategic plan and service as Chair of the Audit Committee was instrumental to the organization’s development over the years. Sally’s efforts to support high performance sailing allowed us to move forward in this area of the sport. Ron’s valuable insight as Chair of the Offshore Committee influenced US Sailing’s ability to further promote offshore sailing, handicap racing and safety at sea.”

Last week, US Sailing announced that 2016 Olympian and four-time College Sailing National Champion, Briana Provancha (Fort Myers, Fla.) was elected to serve as a Sailor Athlete Director on US Sailing’s Board of Directors by the association’s registered Sailor Athletes.

US Sailing held its annual election to fill the open seats on its Board of Directors from September 25 to November 4, 2019. All current adult and family members were entitled to vote online. In addition, members voted in person at the US Sailing Annual Meeting.
