Many of the athletes recently spent time at our training facility in Marseille, France. With all the top countries on-site, several “coaches regattas” gave the sailors a chance to spar with each other on the Olympic racecourses.
It was a terrific collaborative process as coaches from all countries hosted informal regattas to get athletes into competitive scenarios on French waters.
“We are right where we need to be and the athletes can feel it,” said Paul Cayard, Executive Director of U.S. Olympic Sailing. “We gained valuable experience for the 2023 Test Event and the 2024 Olympic Games.”
The Test Event will take place next summer at the same venue as the Paris 2024 Games. And just like the Olympics, only one boat per class per country can attend.
