Training efforts are ramping up in the Youth and Olympic Development (ODP) spaces. During the week before Thanksgiving, three training camps ran simultaneously for over 200 athletes, with support from 32 US Sailing coaches, 22 regional program coaches, and seven US Sailing staff members.
In the United States, college sailing teams and the Olympic Development Program (ODP) have a long history of pursuing the same group of athletes. The relationship between the two programs has drifted in and out of cooperation, but US Sailing’s newest ODP Director Rosie Chapman aims to bolster cooperation between college sailing and the ODP.
