GROSSE POINTE SHORES, Mich. (August 11, 2014) – Rain showers and thunderstorms put a damper on racing at Day 1 of the 2014 U.S. Youth Championships. The 156 sailors competing this week in the pinnacle event for youth racing in the U.S. will need to wait until Tuesday to begin their quest for supremacy in their respective classes. This year’s list of competitors features the top young women and men up to 19, representing five classes including the Club 420, International 420, Laser, Laser Radial, and 29er. Sailors will take their talents to Lake St. Clair in high-performance racing through Thursday.
Tuesday’s first race warning signal is scheduled for 11:00 am EDT.
