PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (September 17, 2014) – For the first time in U.S. Multihull Championship history, the Hobie Alter Trophy will be decided in A-Class Catamarans, popularly known as A-Cats. This Friday through Sunday (September 19-21), the Bristol Yacht Club (R.I.) will serve as host to this US Sailing National Championship for three action-packed days of multihull racing and festivities.
This championship rotates in discipline each year to showcase the depth of classes in multihull racing. The A-Cat is a light weight, high performance catamaran built for speed and the competing sailors are eager to take on the challenge this week on Narragansett Bay.
The U.S. Multihull Championship is sponsored by Old Pulteney, Hobie Polarized and Gill North America. Gill will be providing shirts for the sailors, Hobie Polarized will be providing the winners with sunglasses and Old Pulteney will host a whiskey tasting for participants (21 and older) on Saturday night. This championship is a Sailors for the Sea – Clean Regattas certified event. Learn more about the U.S. Multihull Championship.
