Since its establishment in 2012, the US Sailing Reach Program has opened doors for students across the nation to engage with science, technology, engineering, math (STEM), and environmental studies—all through the power of sailing. Far beyond the traditional goals of building skill and knowledge on the water, US Sailing’s Reach Program is about fostering a generation of young people who are both knowledgeable in STEM and deeply committed to environmental responsibility. With an emphasis on accessibility and growth, the Reach Program has become an invaluable resource for community sailing centers across the United States.
Sailing centers in the Midwest and Pacific Northwest have been awarded Youth Engagement Grants by US Sailing’s Reach Initiative. Congratulations to Green Bay Sail & Paddle, Milwaukee Community Sailing Center, The Foundry Sailing Association, and the Oregon Youth Sailing Foundation for being awarded Youth Engagement Grants in 2020 from US Sailing.
