Gill Marine Joins the US Sailing Team and US Sailing as Official Technical Apparel Partner

BRISTOl, RI (January 31, 2022) — US Sailing today unveiled a new multi-year partnership with Gill Marine, the world’s leading international performance sailing gear company.  Gill also joins the US Sailing Team as their Official Technical Apparel Partner for their Olympic and Team athletes. Known for their unmatched development of specialized technical marine gear, Gill’s apparel and equipment keeps up with the modern sailor and the demand for equipment that is long lasting and can handle the highest performance environments.

The Olympic classes for the 2024 Paris Games include five foiling events and two powerful skiffs. These intensely physical classes put a higher demand on the athletes and their equipment. Gill and the US Sailing Team will be working together with the athletes to ensure they have the most innovative gear designed for the demands of each discipline.

“The mission of the US Sailing Team is to raise the bar across the entire ecosystem of high-performance sailing,” said Paul Cayard, world champion sailor and Executive Director of U.S. Olympic Sailing. “The goal of our partnership with Gill is to ensure the team are wearing the best technical sailing clothing in the world, bar none. Our USST athletes are excited to be working with a partner that is 100% committed to excellence.

Gill Marine, a world leader in developing innovative gear, has a long-standing history in developing the technical gear used by both the recreational and high-performance sailor; the partnership will serve all sailors at all levels and in every aspect of our sport.  As sailing continues to evolve, so must the equipment on which participants rely, and Gill and US Sailing will be at the forefront developing new technologies together.

Jamie Tunnicliffe, CEO, Gill said, “We are excited and proud to enter into this long-term relationship with US Sailing; this multi-faceted partnership will allow us to really showcase our technical capabilities when it comes to product design and engineering at the very highest level of sailing. Whilst it capitalizes on our sailing heritage and product expertise, more importantly it will allow us to hone our product development and knowledge further in order to help the US team succeed. The ability to work closely with a high-performance team across multiple sailing disciplines is priceless as we grow and develop our sailing range further.

The US Sailing Team’s drive and determination to win is very inspiring for us and was the main reason we wanted to partner with them; we are very excited about the journey ahead and look forward to working closely in the future.”

“US Sailing’s mission is to serve the entire spectrum of sailors in the United States; from community sailing to cruisers, racers, and Olympians,” said Alan Ostfield, CEO, US Sailing. “Gill is committed to meeting the needs of today’s sailors and shares the desire of US Sailing to serve the entire sailing community. We are thrilled to partner with Gill and looking forward to working closely with them to support and grow the ever-changing sport of sailing.”
