Siebel Coach Chris Childers on Launch Ceremony at Treasure Island SC

The team of ten sailors had been practicing together for about a year at Treasure Island Sailing Center in the middle of the San Francisco Bay. They ranged from late-elementary to early-middle school age with a strong desire to improve their racing prowess. They started out last fall and sailed some Opti Green Fleet races in local regattas.

Sally Barkow Joins US Sailing Olympic Program

US Sailing has hired Sally Barkow as Olympic Team Coach and Performance Manager. Barkow brings a strong background as an athlete to this position. She is a two-time Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year, an Olympian and a two-time Volvo Ocean Race competitor. She will be joining the US Sailing staff to coach U.S. Nacra 17 athletes and assist US Sailing Team coaches in managing the athlete training programs.

2024 Olympic Windsurfing Sea Trials – Equipment and Community Collide

US Sailing Team Women’s RS:X athlete, Farrah Hall (Annapolis, Md.), recently participated at the RS:X equipment sea trials for the 2024 Olympics. During the trials, World Sailing conducted comprehensive on the water testing and onshore evaluation of five equipment options to replace the Men’s and Women’s RS:X classes at the 2024 Games. Yesterday, World Sailing released that the iFoil has been recommended as the replacement equipment. Hall was one of the 20 athletes selected to test each piece of equipment and provide input to help inform this decision. Read for an inside look at her experience.
