For over a decade during the month of April, the Newport Beach turning basin turns into a team race sanctuary. For a week, locals will hear starting horns, umpire whistles and plenty of screaming. To the Newport Beach Peninsula, it is spring break on the water. But in April of 2020, there wasn’t a sound being made. In fact, as I stood at the corner of Bay Island and looked out, there wasn’t one boat on the water being used. We had to change that.

IOC Approves Men’s & Women’s Kiteboarding for Paris 2024 – Response from the US Sailing Team

On Thursday, June 10, World Sailing was informed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that the IOC Executive Board approved Men’s and Women’s Kiteboarding (Formula Kite) for the Paris 2024 Olympic Sailing Competition. The Men’s and Women’s Kiteboarding Events will replace the Mixed Kiteboarding and Mixed Offshore Events that were previously selected by members of World Sailing. Stephanie Roble (East Troy, Wis.) and Maggie Shea (Wilmette, Ill.) finished Act II of the 49er & 49erFX Championship in 5th place, just five points out of a podium finish. Pascual Finishes 5th at Allianz Regatta

Pedro Pascual (Miami, Fla.) finished fifth at the 2021 Allianz regatta in a fleet of 21. Pascual entered the medal race in tenth and moved up to fifth on the final race, capping off his best regatta of 2021. He will represent the United States at the Tokyo Olympics this summer in the Men’s RS:X fleet and is wrapping up final preparations.

TOKYO 2020 U.S. OLYMPIC SAILING TEAM ROSTER FINALIZED

US Sailing has confirmed the names of the 13 sailors who will represent the United States at the Olympic Games this coming July and August near Tokyo, Japan. The team hails from nine U.S. states and territories including California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, Rhode Island, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Wisconsin. The finalization of the team roster comes after nearly five years campaigning by not only the 13 Olympic Team nominees, but dozens of additional American sailors who were part of U.S. Sailing’s Olympic Team selection process.
