Insurance Option for Certified Race Officials - August 2024 Update
US Sailing has worked with the National Association of Sports Officials (NASO) to create a membership for US Sailing-certified race officials that includes a liability insurance package. Certified race officials now have the option to join NASO if they determine that they need additional liability coverage.
This special membership in NASO is a US Sailing member benefit available only to certified race officials.
Your need for insurance may depend on the kind of officiating you do. If you work mainly at your own club and are comfortable with the club’s insurance program, you may not need additional coverage. However, if you officiate at multiple venues or are uncomfortable with the level of coverage at your home club, you may want additional coverage. If so, it may make sense for you to join NASO.
We will continue to evaluate the changing insurance landscape. We are pleased to have this option for those who want additional race official insurance, and we encourage you to explore whether the NASO program is right for your situation.
The NASO annual membership fee is $79 for US Sailing certified race officials. All US Sailing-NASO memberships run from August 1 to July 31. NASO will periodically update the membership link below to prorate the membership fee:

NASO is a membership organization that provides services and publications to officials and works with sport governing bodies, including Equestrian, Rugby, Water Polo, Volleyball, US Youth Soccer, USA Pickleball and USTA.
