OFFICIAL NACRA17 US SELECTION FOR TOKYO
U.S. Nacra 17 athletes Riley Gibbs and Anna Weis' ability to progress quickly was evident after teaming up in January of 2019. Gibbs brought his experience from some time in the Nacra and other foiling classes to the table, while Weis took a break from pursuing a degree at Boston University to tackle the steep learning curve of the Nacra 17.
In the spring of 2019, both athletes sustained injuries that temporarily suspended their on the water training. After a lot of time in the gym, they rebounded ahead of Weis' recovery schedule to take the Gold Medal at the 2019 Pan American Games.
Since joining forces, this duo has time and time again proven their ability to push through adversity. Only a year after teaming up, they claimed the Gold Medal at the 2020 Oceania Championships and secured their spot on the 2020 U.S. Olympic Sailing Team at the 2020 World Championships. Now, they've got their sights set on preparing for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
