What do science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) have to do with sailing? Everything!
That’s why your contributions help support US Sailing’s Reach Program.
“Physics and math make more sense when you get to experience how the sails and foils work with the boat when you are sailing,” said Lauren, a Reach participant in Hood River, OR.
Through Reach, you’re helping kids understand STEM concepts as they explore their local aquatic environments, both onshore and from a sailboat. Hands-on learning makes the concepts come alive in a tangible and memorable way.
More than 300 organizations across the country have adopted the Reach curriculum. By using sailing as an educational platform, Reach encourages youth to develop a love of learning, explore productive STEM-based careers, and embrace environmental stewardship.
“STEM Camp was an incredible experience for my son!” said Katie M., mom of a Reach participant in Green Bay, WI. “His self-confidence and happiness soared like I’ve never seen. The appreciation he has for the water now will be with him for a lifetime, and for that I am extremely grateful!”
