You helped the next generation reach the podium!

Youth Team shines at 2024 World Championships

The results at the 2024 Youth Sailing World Championships are a testament to the power of your support.

In beautiful Lake Garda, Italy, the next generation of America’s top competitive sailors excelled against challengers from more than 70 other countries. And their results should make you proud.

Every member of the US Youth Team finished the regatta in the Top 20 for their respective class! Leading the pack were three Bronze Medals and six Top 5 finishes.

Your contributions helped the young sailors hone their skills in preparation for the competition and perform at their best in Lake Garda. Prior to the event, US Sailing coaches worked closely with the athletes in each class, providing support, expertise, and experience while training camps in the lead-up to the Youth Worlds helped the athletes and coaches prepare for the peak regatta.

“We have been training for this event with as many days on the water we can – either with other boats to line up with or just by ourselves focusing on speed and maneuvers,” said skipper Molly Bonham, who won a bronze medal along with teammate Annie Sitzmann.

“Winning a medal feels really rewarding after all of our preparation for this event and over the past year,” said Molly. “We made sure to keep things really light all week and kept a really positive attitude.”

In the end, the hard work of every team member paid off. The US finished as the 5th place country in the Nations Trophy, honoring the countries with the most highly-ranked competitors across every discipline.

Congratulations to all fourteen competitors who represented the U.S. at the World Champs, and many thanks to every donor. You’re amazing!
