HYÈRES, FRANCE (April 15, 2026) – US sailors are back on the water for Semaine Olympique Française, “French Olympic Week,” just two weeks after the Trofeo Princesa Sofía in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. The event is the second stop on the Sailing Grand Slam Series, which includes Princesa Sofía, Dutch Water Week, Kieler Woche, and the Long Beach & San Pedro Olympic Class Regatta.
Developed in close collaboration with World Sailing, the Grand Slam Series creates a global platform to showcase the world’s top sailors in the build-up to the LA 2028 Olympic Games.
Racing at French Olympic Week will take place April 18-25 on the Mediterranean Sea.
Rising talents continue to make waves on the international stage, highlighted by an impressive performance at the recent regatta in Palma. In the 49er class, Nevin Snow and Ian MacDiarmid delivered a standout showing, earning the silver medal against a competitive international fleet.
Meanwhile, Charlotte Rose demonstrated remarkable consistency and skill in the ILCA 6, finishing just off the podium in 4th place. Her performance underscores her growing presence as a top contender in the discipline, generally considered one of the most difficult Olympic classes.
These results signal a strong trajectory for US sailors as they continue to build momentum in the lead-up to future international competitions.
“French Olympic Week is the second Grand Slam event of the year after Palma and will be another good chance for our athletes to check in with their international competition and monitor their progress in the fleet,” said Director of Olympic Sailing Molly Vandemoer. “While the group of US athletes is a bit smaller for this event, with some of sailors head back to finish the school year, race in college nationals or check back in with work, we’re excited to see a strong cohort of US sailors competing in this international event.”
