Long Beach, Calif. – A large trailer containing part of Oakcliff Sailing‘s 49er and 49erFX Olympic-class skiff fleet has arrived at Alamitos Bay Yacht Club in Long Beach, California in an effort to boost the US Sailing Team Sperry and the new Olympic Development Program (ODP). Driven from Miami, Florida to Long Beach by 2012 US Olympic Star class crew Brian Fatih (Miami, Fla.) the trailer’s presence marks the beginning of an exciting period of training and racing in the area. Oakliff’s high-performance two-person boats will allow promising Olympic hopefuls on the west coast significantly better training opportunities as they seek to hone their skills.
“The arrival of these boats presents a fantastic opportunity for the US Sailing Team Sperry and young sailors motivated to take the next step in high-performance sailing,” said Charlie McKee, US Sailing’s High Performance Director and two-time Olympic medalist. “This would not be possible without Oakcliff’s partnership, our fantastic hosts at ABYC, and the resources provided by US Sailing’s new Olympic Development Program (ODP). It’s an exciting time to be a young athlete aspiring to medal at the Olympics.”

About US Sailing’s Olympic Development Program
US Sailing’s Olympic Development Program (ODP) was launched in January 2015 to lead the progression of the most promising youth sailing talent in the US. Guided by the US Olympic Sailing Committee’s Project Pipeline strategic initiative, the ODP fosters an integrated approach to training in the core development and Olympic classes, and is part of a system to provide the United States with a steady stream of well-prepared sailors.
