Now in its sixth year, The Glenn Lattimore Grant Program continues to nurture an inclusive and diverse sailing community by providing financial support for women and girls to participate in US Sailing Championships. Established in 2019, this program honors the legacy of Virginia Glenn Hill Lattimore, a trailblazer in women’s sailing, and ensures her spirit continues to aid and inspire future generations of women in sailing.
Supporting Women and Girls in Sailing
Open to women and girls of all ages, the program offers financial assistance to help cover travel expenses and regatta registration fees associated with participating in US Sailing National Championships. Grants typically range from $200 to $1,000, making it easier for sailors to compete at the championship level. With 53 grants awarded to date, the program remains a vital resource for athletes aiming to excel in a historically challenging and competitive sport.
The application period for 2025 will open in April, with recipients selected and rewarded in September. In 2024, 15 women and girls in sailing were awarded Lattimore Grant support, including Sage Andrews, Ella Bowers, Madeline Nichols, and Grace Toney.
