Luke Muller Earns Selection to 2020 U.S. Olympic Sailing Team

On Thursday, June 9, US Sailing announced the conclusion of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 Athlete Trials in the Finn class. As a result, the leading U.S. athlete, Luke Muller, has earned selection to the 2020 U.S. Olympic Sailing Team and is nominated to Team USA. Muller earned selection thanks to his performances at the 2019 Finn World Championship and 2020 Hempel World Cup Series Miami, where he placed 17th and 3rd, respectively.

U.S. Olympic Trials Conclude for Finns and Continue with 2021 Worlds for Women’s 470

On Thursday, July 9, US Sailing’s Olympic Sailing Committee voted that participation at the 2020 Finn and 470 World Championships is not in the best interest of U.S. athletes. Upon review of current State Department and Travel Advisories and at the recommendation of US Sailing’s Selection Committee, the OSC determined that these regattas will not be used as the third 2020 U.S. Olympic Sailing Team selection event for the Women’s 470 or Finn classes.

Charlotte Rose Secures Top Ten Finish at Radial Worlds

After spending a week battling challenging conditions on the waters of Sakaiminato City, Japan, Charlotte Rose (Houston, Texas) has secured ninth place overall at the 2019 Laser Radial World Championships. Other strong American finishes include performances from two-time Olympian, Paige Railey (Clearwater, Fla.), and Trofeo Sofia Bronze Medalist, Erika Reineke (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.). Railey finished the event in 12th overall and Reineke finished 21st.

US Sailing’s Olympic Development Program Launches Phase Two of Project Pipeline

US Sailing’s Olympic Development Program (ODP) is kicking off 2019 with the next phase of Project Pipeline, which is the nation’s first long-term, high-performance youth sailing strategy. The goal of Project Pipeline is to give young U.S. competitors the skills necessary to compete successfully in all areas of international sailing, including the Olympic Games. Phase Two will focus on creating more opportunities for young athletes to try Olympic classes with more access to top-level coaching.

The US Sailing Team has completed racing at the highly anticipated 2018 Hempel Sailing World Championships, which concluded in Denmark’s second largest city on Sunday. The U.S. walked away with three country qualification spots and a much deserved Gold Medal for kiteboarder Daniela Moroz who captured first place honors in the Women’s Formula Kiteboard competition.

US Sailing Team Takes on Olympic Qualifier at World Championships in Aarhus, Denmark

The official start of the 2018 Hempel Sailing World Championships is Thursday, (August 2) in beautiful Aarhus, Denmark. Over the course of 11 days of racing, 10 Olympic classes and kites will coexist on the waters outside of Denmark’s second largest city. The U.S. makes an impressive representation with 62 athletes in total. The US Sailing Team members account for approximately one third of those athletes.
