Founded in 2006, Team Marine (www.teammarine.org) is a multi-award winning environmental science teen action group that engages in real research, service learning, and educational outreach to raise awareness about the problems of and solutions to climate change, ocean acidification, plastic pollution, overfishing, and ocean dead zones.  Students have competed in several regional science competitions including the QuikSCience Challenge, Edison Challenge, Solar Cup, and the LA County and State Science Fairs.  Through a myriad of experiences in field, laboratory, and community settings, students hone their higher-order thinking and communication skills, bolster their academic resumes, win scholarships and awards, and receive training in the latest sustainable technologies.
