Sailing Foundation of New York Supports Tokyo-Bound US Sailing Team Athletes

US Sailing is very pleased to share that The Sailing Foundation of New York (SFNY) has voted to provide direct athlete support to the sailors who have been selected to compete as part of Team USA next summer at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

SFNY is one of the longest-standing supporters of both Olympic-class athletes and the US Sailing Team, providing generous financial support over the last five Olympic quadrenniums.

US Sailing is extremely appreciative for the support that SFNY provides. “The Sailing Foundation of New York continues to consider our Olympic athletes integral to their philanthropic mission, even with the multitude of campaigns and causes it supports. We are extremely grateful for their support, and for the incredible champions behind our athletes’ perseverance and Olympic goals. We are so lucky to have them as part of the team behind the team,” said Jack Gierhart (Marion, Mass.), Chief Executive Officer of US Sailing.

SFNY Co-Founder, President and Board Member, Tom Stark, is pleased with this opportunity on behalf of the athletes. “It’s a tough series of events for the athletes when the ‘quad’ turns into the ‘quint,’ and they are faced with an extra year of training and living expenses. We are glad that the Sailing Foundation Board of Directors voted to further support the Olympic athletes representing our country.”
