Sailing Foundation of New York Renews Commitment

SFNY_Silver Club Partner logoThe Board of Directors of the Sailing Foundation of New York announced today a $50,000 commitment to the pathway development plans of the U.S. Olympic Sailing Program. This pledge continues SFNY’s long-time support for Olympic and Paralympic sailing, and SFNY now becomes the first 2016 Silver Medal Partner Club of the U.S. Olympic Sailing Program.

“The Sailing Foundation of New York has long been a good friend to the U.S. Olympic Sailing Program,” said Josh Adams (Essex, Mass.), Managing Director, U.S. Olympic Sailing Program. ”The Foundation has helped raise more than $750,000 of direct support for the last three Olympic and Paralympic Sailing Teams, and we are honored to have the Foundation on board for 2016.”

SFNY joins the St. Francis Yacht Club as a partner organization of the Olympic Program. St. Francis previously made a $100,000 commitment to the Program, establishing them as the first 2016 Gold Medal Partner Club.

“Thanks to the vision of Dooie Isdale and Tom Stark, the Foundation has a great reputation for providing incredible support for our sport, and specifically for young athletes who compete at the highest level.” said Dean Brenner (Wallingford, Conn.), President, SFNY. “Our current board and I want to continue and enhance that reputation. We’re very conscious of the history and legacy of the SFNY. We are looking forward to working hard to support the sailors and the organizations that make our sport great.”

Since 2005, US Sailing’s Medalist and Yacht Club Partner programs have raised over $5 million of support for the US Sailing Team Sperry-Top Sider.
