US Sailing and Oakcliff are partnering to create more opportunities for American sailors to explore Olympic-class sailing through Olympic Class Camps this summer. camps are designed to provide athletes with direct access to Olympic-class boats, elite coaching, and a clearer understanding of the pathway to representing the United States on the world stage.
Building on Oakcliff’s Intro to Olympic Class Camp held June 4–14 in Oyster Bay, New York, US Sailing and Oakcliff are expanding efforts to support aspiring Olympic sailors with a second Olympic Pathways Camp in San Pedro, California, August 10–12, 2026.
Together, these camps are designed to provide athletes with direct access to Olympic-class boats, elite coaching, and a clearer understanding of the pathway to representing the United States on the world stage.
The camps will serve sailors at most stages of development—from athletes exploring Olympic-class sailing for the fi rst time to those already competing in Olympic disciplines. Participants will train in the 49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17, and 470 classes while receiving hands-on coaching and gaining insight into campaign planning, athlete development, and the many components required to build a successful Olympic campaign.
“We are excited to bring the Olympic Development Program to San Pedro this August at the venue that will host sailing competitions during the 2028 Olympic Games,” remarked Giselle Nyenhuis, Olympic Development Program Manager at US Sailing. “We look forward to working with sailors who are ready to take the next step toward realizing their Olympic aspirations.”
“These camps are about providing opportunity and direction,” said B Lindsay, High Performance Director at Oakcliff Sailing. “For many talented sailors, the Olympic pathway can seem diffi cult to navigate. Through these camps we can give athletes access to Olympic-class equipment, experienced coaches, and a clearer understanding of how to move from interested sailor to Olympic campaigner. Our goal is to help more American sailors see a realistic path toward competing at the highest level of the sport.”
Both camps will conclude with a Triple Crown Regatta, providing athletes an opportunity to apply what they have learned in a competitive environment. Triple Crown 1, which also serves as the US 470 National Championship, will take place June 15–18 in Sayville, New York. The San Pedro camp will be followed by Triple Crown 2 on August 14–16, 2026, serving as the second event in the 2026 Triple Crown Series. The series will then return to the East Coast for its fi nal two events in Oyster Bay, New York, on September 12–13 and September 19–20.
