More Than Just Skiing in Park City

Park City Sailing Association (Sail PC), located in Park City, UT, brings new meaning to the idea of appreciating the beautiful outdoors while sailing. At 6,000 ft of elevation, Sail PC offers members and visitors alike incredible views of snow-capped mountains while enjoying premiere sailing conditions around the Jordanelle Reservoir State Park. There is more to Utah than just endless snow and ski resorts – which is why Sail PC is the perfect location to host the 2025 U.S. Adult Sailing Championship this September 26-28.

Founded in 2008, Sail PC now boasts nearly 1,000 members and a thriving junior sailing program. The association owns Zim Prams, RS Teras, and 420 boats; and there is weekly racing in ILCA, J/22, Ultimate 20, and Melges 15 fleets for both youth and adult members. Having just been awarded the 2024 Outstanding Community Sailing Program award at the 2025 US Sailing Leadership Forum, Sail PC offers a wide range of programs dedicated to providing accessible, inclusive, and high-quality sailing opportunities to the Utah community.

By hosting the U.S. Adult Sailing Championship, Founder and Board Member of Sail PC, Geoff Hurwitch, hopes participants will “experience more of what the Park City area has to offer with regards to hospitality. We want them to take a fun experience home and share it with other sailors in their home waters, drawing awareness for our strong sailing program in Utah.”

“Park City Sailing is at a point in the program’s life that we are ready for the next, giant step,” he said. This will be Sail PC’s first time hosting a US Sailing National Championship.

“We’ve overcome so many challenges of having a program in the mountains of Utah and a little more growth in infrastructure will help us tremendously.”

The 2025 U.S. Adult Sailing Championship will be held from September 26th – 28th  for the Clifford D. Mallory Trophy. Founded in 1952, the originally all-male event transitioned to an open event starting in 1993 – where coed or all-female teams could compete for the Championship title. Each Regional Sailing Association (RSA) has the authority to submit one team for consideration in this prestigious event.

This year, selected teams will be competing this on J/22’s in a round robin format, providing three days of exciting racing in the lake waters of Utah. For more information on how to apply, sailors are encouraged to reach out to their local RSA or visit the event website. Registration is currently open, so don’t delay! Those whose RSAs are not listed can contact US Sailing directly at adultchampionships@ussailing.org.
