Organized by US Sailing, the U.S. Open Offshore was created to elevate offshore racing in the United States. Saint Barth Yacht Club and New York Yacht Club provided logistical support as the start and finish clubs, respectively. The inaugural edition successfully ran from St. Barth’s to Newport, RI with LUCKY competing, and helping to establish this proof-of-concept for a future high‑profile offshore events in and around the US. The race was approximately 1,600 nautical miles. Owner / Skipper Bryon Ehrhart and 18 crew members finished the race in 4 days, 13 hours and 55 minutes. The crew laid down some big mile days and faced some bumpy conditions in the Gulf Stream.
