Daniela Moroz Wins Gold at ANOC World Beach Games

WOMEN’S MEDAL RACE UPDATE:
October 15, 2019

U.S. Kitefoil standout Daniela Moroz (Lafayette, Calif.) won the gold medal in the women’s kitefoil racing competition on Tuesday following four days of racing at the ANOC World Beach Games.

Quotes from Daniela Moroz:

“Reading the shifts this week was key. Our course was in a bay, and on the other side of the bay were buildings and it created a lot of shifts with a wraparound affect on the bay. We barely had over six knots all week. It was important to keep your kite in the air and stay dry.”

“Julia (Damasiewicz) and Elena (Kalinina) were really good this week and do well in light air.”

“I won every major event I could have won this year. I’m excited to be done for the year and returning to college at the University of Hawaii, where I will be competing on the sailing team. I’ll be training in Mexico over the winter holidays.”

Notes:

  • 20 competitors total for the women.
