MEDEMBLIK, NETHERLANDS (June 7, 2021) – Pedro Pascual (Miami, Fla.) finished fifth at the 2021 Allianz regatta in a fleet of 21. Pascual entered the medal race in tenth and moved up to fifth on the final race, capping off his best regatta of 2021. He will represent the United States at the Tokyo Olympics this summer in the Men’s RS:X fleet and is wrapping up final preparations.
“Allianz regatta was a turning point for me in the way I perform,” said Pascual. “I was able to really show what I am capable of in all conditions. To finish 5th against the same people that will be in Tokyo fills me with confidence and now I really believe I can fight for a medal at the games!”

MEDEMBLIK, NETHERLANDS (June 1, 2021) – Paige Railey (Clearwater, Fla.), Pedro Pascual (Miami, Fla.), and Charlie Buckingham (Newport Beach, Calif.) are scheduled to compete in the Allianz Regatta beginning June 2 and continuing through June 13 in Medemblik, Netherlands. Racing in the ILCA 6, Men’s RS:X, and ILCA 7 classes, respectively, the three US Sailing Team members will represent the US this summer at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in Enoshima, Japan.

About the Allianz Regatta, via official event site:

This year, from 2 to 13 June, the first edition of the Allianz Regatta will be sailed on the waters of Medemblik. The Allianz Regatta is the largest sailing event in the Netherlands and part of World Sailing’s “Hempel World Cup Series”.  The Regatta will consist of two weeks, where the worlds best sailors will compete in 8 of the 10 Olympic sailing classes.

Olympic Classes
From 2 to 13  June, the opener of the Allianz Regatta takes place in the form of two Olympic Weeks. International top sailors in 8 Olympic classes can collect valuable points for the 2021 world rankings. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Allianz Regatta will be the last serious test for the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Nearly 300 sailors from 47 different countries will set sail in this years edition. The Laser, Laser Radial, RS:X Men, RS:X Women and Nacra17 will come into action from 2 – 6 June. 9- 13 June the Finn, 49er and 49erFX will be sailing their competition.
