Trevor Bornarth started sailing at the age of 7 in New Bern, NC. Inspired by his parents, who are both avid sailors, Trevor quickly progressed in the Optimist class. Eventually, Trevor and his family moved to Florida and started sailing out of the US Sailing Center in Martin County where his love for sailing grew as he began sailing Lasers and 420s. In high school, Trevor won the i420 National and North American Championship and represented the United States at the Youth World Championship, finishing second. Trevor began sailing the 470 in 2018 and teamed up with Louisa Nordstrom when it was announced that the 470 class would become a mixed-gender discipline for Paris 2024. The pair missed the Paris Olympics by one point at the Olympic Trials, and Bornarth has now teamed up with Andrew Mollerus in the 49er in pursuit of Los Angeles 2028.
