Stephanie Roble

Steph Roble grew up sailing dinghies and scows on Lake Beulah, Wisconsin. At an early age, she fell in love with the sport and quickly took to competition. Early in her career, Roble qualified to represent the U.S. at the Optimist World Championships in 2004. In high school, she found similar success by representing the U.S. in the Laser Radial at the 2006 ISAF Youth World Championship.

As a collegiate sailor at Old Dominion University, Roble led her team to several Women’s and Coed National Championships as a two-time All-American, three-time Team MVP, and Team Captain her senior year. After graduating, she focused on sailing, specifically match racing. She has won the open U.S. Match Racing Championship once (as a crew) and the U.S. Women’s Match Racing Championship twice (as helm and crew). Roble was also a founding member of the professional women’s match racing team, Epic Racing. As skipper for the team, she earned two bronze medals at the Women’s Match Race World Championships in 2014 and 2015 and placed in first and second, respectively, on the Women’s International Match Race Series (WIM Series).

In the fall of 2016, Roble joined forces with former Epic Racing teammate Maggie Shea to pursue an Olympic campaign in the 49erFX. The pair earned their first World Cup together at the 2019 Hempel World Cup Series Genoa and have climbed to a ranking of 11th in the world.
