Captain Joe Prosser Award for Organizational Excellence in Sailing Instruction

The Captain Joe Prosser Award was created to recognize the life achievement of the Merchant Marine Academy’s first sailing master, Captain C.A. “Joe” Prosser, USMS. Nominees for the award should be organizational members of US Sailing,  may be be either “for-profit” or “not-for-profit”, and may be engaged in sailing instruction on a seasonal or year-round basis. Nominees shall embody all characteristics of sportsmen, namely honor, integrity and a selfless dedication to the sport.

The award may be to an organization which has, in the opinion of the US Sailing Education Committee, made an exemplary contribution toward improving the quality and safety in the training or instruction of sailors. In addition to the trophy, a $500 credit funded by US Sailing’s Education Committee will be awarded annually to the selected school or program for Instructor Training.
