Harry Melges and Finn Rowe started their friendship at a very young age and enjoyed catching frogs and swimming in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. They got their start in sailing as competitors in the X Boat, a class widely sailed on lakes throughout the Midwest, and officially teamed up in the E Scow at age 12. Their young partnership led to countless regattas across a variety of classes over the years, and they arrived at the 49er at age 16 with Olympic dreams from the start. The two qualified for the US Sailing Team at the 2019 Trofeo SAR Princesa Sofia Regatta when they were 17 years old, and now at age 19 they are currently the youngest US team to qualify for the 49er Gold Fleet. Though they have turned their attention away from frogs in the years since their childhood, very little has changed about their close relationship. Harry and Finn find joy in fitting in outside activities together beyond their intense training and have their adventures to thank for strengthening their bond.
