The Coastal Passage Making Instructor Evaluation


The Coastal Passage Making Instructor Evaluation is an intense 5 day clinic.

Candidates should expect to be evaluated on a wide range of criteria including but not limited to the following:

PRACTICAL SKILLS/DAY OR NIGHT
Sail Handling
Helmsmanship
Docking
Anchoring/Mooring
Overboard Recovery
Response to Emergencies
Housekeeping
Navigation (DR techniques, electronic, chart/pub usage)

PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE

Boat systems
Passage planning/provisioning
Safety equipment

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
Communication skills
Organizational ability
Structuring learning environment
Team building-group interactivity
Professional attitude and conduct

Prerequisites for the course include US SAILING Basic Keelboat, Cruising and Coastal Navigation Instructor Certification. Candidates must also have current First Aid and CPR (from AHA, ARC or Green Cross), current US SAILING Membership and current Coast Guard License.

Candidates are expected to bring to the course a seabag, PFD, harness and tether, toiletries, several changes of clothes and other items as assigned by your instructors.

The cost of this clinic is $450.00. Candidates whose completed applications and course payment are received 4 weeks prior to the course receive a 50.00 early bird discount.  . Please also arrive with cash for the provisioning fee of $60.  Applications are accepted on a first come/first pay basis.
