Requirements to host a Small Boat Level 1 Instructor course

BOATS AND EQUIPMENT:
Sailboats (appropriate for course including at least one capsizable boat (dinghy or multihull, not a keelboat)
Safety boat with federally required equipment  (1-2 boats)
First Aid supplies for safety boat
Anchor and anchor line for safety boat
Small marks with ground tackle - 4
Line - One length of 6-foot line per candidate plus one length for coiling and heaving.
PFDs  One type III per candidate plus one type IV for the safety boat.

COURSE PREPARATION:
Procedures for emergencies at site location
Check condition of equipment before course
Check condition of equipment after course; arrange for repair of any damage
Prepare safety boat each day (gas, anchor, and ground tackle)
Publicity
Registration for course no later than 1 week prior.  On line registration preferred.

ON-SHORE FACILITIES:
Reservation of room; well-lighted and ventilated for classroom purposes
Chalkboard with chalk and eraser or whiteboard with dry markers in 3 colors
Table and chairs for each participant
TV, VCR and Camcorder
Access to a copier

 SWIM TEST FACILITIES:
Appropriate location for a swim check
Changing and shower rooms 

HOUSING:
Housing for visiting Instructor Trainers (if necessary)
Housing for Instructor Candidates (if necessary)

 MISCELLANEOUS:
Assistant to help Instructor Trainer (if needed)
Coffee, juice, soft drinks; set-up for morning and afternoon sessions
Arrangements for low cost lunches (under $5) so participants can purchase (or bring their own) and eat together at course site
