Her America True Foundation has evolved since 1995 to be an ‘incubator/hospital’ for community sailing programs nationwide. Dawn was a co-host on OLN for the 2003 America’s Cup coverage and has worked for PBS and ESPN. She authored numerous articles and a book “Taking the Helm”.Her current mission is raising the level of sailing and sailors at the Oakcliff Sailing Center in Oyster Bay, NY.

Outside of the sport of sailing, Dawn served as President of The Women’s Sports Foundation, founded by Billie Jean King. During her tenure, a nationwide grassroots educational program was implemented. She also oversaw a restructuring of the Board, a budget review and a re-branding of the Foundation. Dawn has used her experiences to work as a motivational speaker for many top corporations as well as a consultant on residential and mixed-use retail developments.

Words from our Board Member

I have worked to increase participation in the sport of sailing (and other sports) at all levels and across ethnic and gender divides. I see serving on US Sailing’s board as a natural place to try and continue in these efforts.

I would like to see the sport grow and for US Sailing to lead this effort from a financially solid position. I believe my sponsorship and fundraising experience can help. Working at Oakcliff and volunteering at US Sailing is a natural fit.I understand the obligations as the NGB for sailing reporting to ISAF but we also need to continue to serve the vast, varied and unique constituents of the US.
