Sunday’s Racing Notes:

It was another stellar day of racing on San Diego Bay for the five classes in competition at the 2016 U.S. Youth Sailing Championships, hosted by Coronado Yacht Club with support from the San Diego Yacht Club. The Laser, Laser Radial, International 420 and 29er fleets tallied four more races, while the Techno 293 fleet finished three races with two racing days remaining in the regatta.

Racing Conditions

Sailing conditions were similar to Saturday with breezes in the low to mid teens.

Lasers (singlehanded dinghy)
Marshall McCann has a slight, two point edge over brother Ford McCann through seven races. Ford gained ground on Marshall by winning Race 7. Maximilian Guerriero is in third place and eight points back. All three of these racers are representing the Texas Corinthian Yacht Club.

Radial (singlehanded dinghy)
Carrson Pearce catapulted into the lead by winning all four races today to take a 14 point lead over Leon Boucher. Talia Toland remains on top in the girls division by nine points over Anna Weis.

Techno 293 (windsurfer)
Steven Cramer won all three races today after Geronimo Nores won all three races on Saturday in the windsurfing division. Cramer and Nores each have seven points to lead the Techno 293 class.

I-420 (doublehanded dinghy)
Wiley Rogers and Jack Parkin expanded their lead with three more wins on Sunday. They lead by 19 points. Kathryn Hall and Ashton Borcherding took the lead over Carmen and Emma Cowles in the girls division by one point.

29er (doublehanded skiff)
Neil Marcellini and Ian Brill have a three point edge on Ryan Ratliffe and Sam Merson. Marcellini and Brill have won five of seven races, however, they did not finish Race 6. Louisa Nordstrom and Catherine Mollerus remain on top in the girls division by three over Lucy and Sally Wilmot.

* The Laser Radial, International 420, and 29er will be vying for a spot on the US Sailing Youth World Team and compete at the 2016 Youth Sailing World Championships in Auckland, New Zealand on December 14-20.
