The map shown above details the eleven Areas that comprise US Sailing. Area officers and an Area Director are elected by the Regional Sailing Associations. Each of the ten Area Directors is a member of the Board of Directors of US Sailing. Areas conduct the finals for US Sailing ladder events and send the winners to the national championships. The Areas also certify local race officers and Race Officials after they have completed US Sailing courses.
