Race Administration

Welcome to the Race Administration website.  Race Administration represents the interests of all racing sailors by bringing together the race officers who run races, the judges and the technical experts who write the racing rules and hear appeals. The Race Administration Committee promotes communications among its constituent committees and co-ordinates their activities to improve the quality of sailboat racing. This site includes links and information that are common to the constituent committees. (Click here to see  members of the Race Administration Committee.)

Web Pages for the Committees within Race Administration

  • Race Management - The Processes and Officials Involved With Running Races

  • Judges - The Procedures and Officials Involved With Judging Races

  • Umpires - The Procedures and Officials Involved With Umpiring Races

  • Racing Rules - Responsible for the Racing Rules of Sailing

  • Appeals - Hear Appeals on Decisions Regarding the Racing Rules

Note: Interpretations of the racing rules that appear on these web pages are the carefully considered opinions of the US SAILING committee responsible for their content. However, they are not official US SAILING interpretations of the rules in the sense that interpretations by the US SAILING Appeals Committee are. As provided by Appendix F of the racing rules, only the Appeals Committee can act to interpret the racing rules on behalf of US SAILING. Racing rule 70 describes how such interpretations can be obtained.
