LOCATION:
Third Beach, Middletown RI
The location of the 2007 US Olympic Trials - Sailing for the Laser and Laser Radial classes is Third Beach in Middletown, Rhode Island. The site includes a motor boat launching ramp, a beach launching area, a regatta tent, restroom facilities and a large parking area for competitor cars and trailers.
ARRIVAL:
September 17 – October 14
Competitors are welcome to use the site for training purposes prior to September 17, 2007 however boats may not be left overnight prior to this date. Beginning on September 17, overnight security will be in place and competitors are welcome to leave boats in the parking area.
SECURITY:
September 17 – October 14
Overnight security will be in place September 17 – October 14. The security detail will run from 1700 hrs – 0900 hrs daily.
SUPPLIED BOATS:
October 3
Vanguard will be on-site beginning October 3 to provide boats for competitors.
PARKING:
On-Site for cars and trailers
Competitor parking will be available on site beginning on September 17. A Laser and coach boat trailer storage area with immediate water access will be designated for the event. Trailers may be required to move to an off-site area approximately 300 yards down the beach access road.
WASHDOWN:
Available October 5 – 14
A fresh water truck will be on-site in the vicinity of the boat storage area for boat washdown on October 1 – 14.
COACH BOATS:
On-Site storage available
Coach boats will be required to register with the Organizing Authority prior to competition. Coach boat flags will be assigned at registration October 3 - 5. Course access will not be allowed without a flag. The coach boat registration fee is $25 in addition to a $50 refundable flag deposit. Moorings will be available for overnight storage. A launch service will be provided each morning and evening. Alternatively, coach boats may be hauled out and stored in the trailer storage area.
RESTROOMS:
Available On-Site September 17 – October 14
Two portable heads are available on-site September 17 – October 1. For the competition period, October 1 – 14, a large restroom trailer will be on-site.
OPENING RECEPTION:
October 4, 1730 hrs – 1930 hrs at New York Yacht Club
New York Yacht Club will host an opening reception cocktail party at Harbor Court on October 4 from 1730 hrs – 1930 hrs. Competitors will receive invitations at registration.
