LOCATION:
Sail Newport, Newport RI
The location of the 2007 Paralympic Trials Regatta for the Sonar, SKUD 18 and 2.4 mR classes is the Sail Newport Sailing Center in Newport, RI. The site includes a motor boat launching ramp, dockage facilities, two boat hoists, a regatta tent, restroom facilities and a large parking area for competitor cars and trailers. All facilities are fully accessible.
ARRIVAL:
September 17 – October 11
Competitors are welcome to use the site for training purposes beginning on September 17. Please contact Sail Newport to make storage arrangements.
PARKING:
On-Site for cars and trailers
Competitor parking and trailer storage will be available on site beginning on October 3.
WASHDOWN:
Available September 17 – October 14
Fresh water hoses will be available to wash down boats at the end of each day.
COACH BOATS:
On-Site storage available
Coach boats will be required to register with the Organizing Authority prior to competition. Coach boat flags will be assigned at registration October 3 - 5. Course access will not be allowed without a flag. The coach boat registration fee is $25 in addition to a $50 refundable flag deposit. Dock space will be available for coach boats at no charge. Alternatively, coach boats may be hauled out and stored in the trailer storage area.
RESTROOMS:
Available On-Site October 1 – 14
Several portable, accessible restrooms will be on site for competitors beginning on October 1.
OPENING RECEPTION:
October 4, 1730 hrs – 1930 hrs at New York Yacht Club
New York Yacht Club will host an opening reception cocktail party at Harbor Court on October 4 from 1730 hrs – 1930 hrs. Competitors will receive invitations at registration.
