On October 13, 2000 Walt Green, the former Director of Marketing for US SAILING, presented a seminar (shown above) for class representatives at the Annual General Meeting. His discussion focused on the basic fundamentals of marketing rather than subjects specific to sailing or the one-design classes, and class members were challenged to go back to their classes and develop specific marketing plans for future implementation. You can see the transparencies that served as the outline for this seminar by clicking here. That will bring up a 'slide show' which you can review by clicking the FORWARD and BACK navigation arrows at the bottom of each page. The original transparencies can also be obtained as a Portable Document Format (PDF) file by clicking here. In order to open, read, and print it you need Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. If you do not already have it, you can download it free of charge. Clicking here will take you to the Adobe website where you will find instructions for downloading and installing Acrobat Reader. And Clark Chapin has converted the transparencies into a PowerPoint presentation, to which he had added notes that he took during Walt Green's presentation at the seminar. (This is a 1.7 meg file, which will take several minutes to download to your computer before you will begin to see any action—but be patient, for it is well worth the wait.) To view it you will need a PowerPoint viewer installed on your computer, which you can obtain from the Microsoft website by clicking here.
