US SAILOR Of The
Week Thomas Barrows |
Thomas Barrows is a sailor at heart. Growing up in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands (recognized by US SAILING as part of its Area B region), Thomas began racing his Opti at age 8 and within a year joined US SAILING as a member. Now just 18 years old, his list of sailing accomplishments is already pretty long and continues to grow. Just in the last year, Thomas qualified to compete in three U.S. National Championships and returned home with medals from each event. Eyeing a possible Olympic campaign representing the US Virgin Islands in 2012, Thomas is pretty serious about his sailing. But for now, he's focused on picking where he wants to go to college next fall. "I'm looking at a couple of options right now but I definitely want to be part of a college sailing team." |
