US SAILING
MULTIHULL COUNCIL
SPRING MEETING
Colorado Springs, Colorado
March 15, 2002
Report to the Board of
Directors
|
|
1 |
Hoyt-Jolley Restricted Account:
We had over $64,000 accumulated in the
Hoyt-Jolley Fund. This money was invested through the USOC but, over
the winter months, their investments took a nosedive and our fund lost
about $10,000. It is proposed that we will work with the treasurer on
a plan better suited to this type of restricted account. |
|
2 |
Alter Cup Transfer: Alter Cup Chairman, Jamie
Diamond, has requested a transfer of $4,000 from the Hoyt-Jolley
Restricted Account to the Alter Cup Committee account.
The Multihull Council therefore proposes the attached resolution:
Action Requested: Transfer $4,000 from the
Hoyt-Jolley Fund to the Alter Cup Committee Line Item Budget
|
Submitters Pros:
This Action Item is an annual request for
transfer of monies from one account to another. Funds are in a
restricted account and this Action requires Board of Directors’
Approval.
|
Submitters Cons:
None |
|
|
3 |
Hoyt-Jolley Fund has contributed $2,000 to the
Training Symposium recently held in St. Petersburg, FL. |
|
4 |
Greg Norwine and Steve
Colgate gave a presentation on the benefits
of having a Cruising Sailors Council. It was generally considered by
those present to be an advantage to cruising multihull sailors. The
Multihull Council would be in favor of investigating this proposal. |
|

Fred Hagedorn, Chairman of the Olympic Sailing
Committee, stopped by to let us know that the Multihull sailors are
very important to US SAILING. He also mentioned that the 2003 ISAF
Youth World Regatta in Portugal will include a multihull discipline.
The 2002 ISAF World Sailing Games will include two Women's entries and
two Open entries on the Hobie 16. A long discussion ensued about
funding possibilities. |
6 |
The Multihull Council recommends that the Formula
18 be used as the vessel of choice for the
2003 Olympic Development Regatta for youth ages 18-24. |
