III.        Approval of the Minutes:  Minutes were approved as written.

IV.       Correspondence:  There has been some correspondence by e-mail. Bill Doelger accepted the appointment to chair the Nominating Committee.

V.        Budget Review and Discussion:  Chairman Art Stevens reports that we have not had a budget since 1984 or 1985. Art passed around the questionnaire from the Budget Committee. Art sees this as an opportunity for Multihull Council/Committee to participate in the budgeting process. We will need to supply information for the Alter Cup Comte., Multihull Youth Championship and Fast and Fun.

VI.       Reports:

A.  Alter Cup:  The 2003 US Multihull Championship for the Alter Cup will be held April 5-11 at the Clearwater Community Sailing Center and co-hosted by the Clearwater Yacht Club, FL.  The Factory has supplied 10 Bimari Javelin II type catamarans for this competition.

B.  Fast and Fun: Art Stevens reports that Disabled Sports USA in Long Beach, CA will host Fast and Fun on June 23-27, 2003.  DSUSA has 200 chapters around the United States.

This event will include seminars to introduce children to the new sports: sailing windsurfing, kayaking, water skiing, rock climbing and out rigger canoes. Fast and Fun will have the beach in the middle with the support of the Harbor Patrol and EMTS. The chairman of the event has access to 3 dinghies and will be bringing them along.

Art reports that the Sail Sand Point Fast and Fun Program in Seattle, WA was so successful that they want to do it again. And they have adopted the Hobie Waves as a training boat for a one week Sail Training Camp to be followed by the Fast and Fun Program on the following weekend.

C.  Golden Anchor: Darline Hobock reports that she has had 85-90 renewals through the Golden anchor program.  Darline utilized post cards this year and had better response to her mailings this time.

D.  Portsmouth Numbers:  Darline reported new Tables will be available for all the boats in one month.  Race Organizers are not always forthcoming with race results and she often has to search them out on the web, which is very tedious.

E.  Web Page:  Darline shared that some web pages are static, but our web page is open.  She has many links to other sailing events and sailing organizations.

F.   PHRF:  Jim Frederick reports that PHRF for multihulls is running well all over the US.  On the Great Lakes, we have 3 different Multihull PHRF organizations: Lake Michigan PHRF, Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie Multihulls. The three PHRF groups will be forming a consortium to rate boats for the Chicago Mackinac and Port Huron Mackinac Races.

G.  Inshore:  No report.

H.  Women’s Sailing:  Art reports that we need a replacement for Kathleen Tracy.  Dan Mangus will help look for a Women’s Rep. The US Sailing Women’s Comte. would like to have a Multihull Member on their committee.

I.    Offshore:  Bill Doelger will need to report any important activity to the secretary at the conclusion of that meeting.

J.   Safety-at-Sea:  Bill Doelger also sits on that committee.

K.  Training:  Art Stevens reports that we can have a Level I Training Program anywhere in the US.  Level I Instructors can train on either boat: monohull or multihull.

VII.       VII.     Unfinished Business:

A.   Terms of Reference: The Terms of Reference were already submitted.

VIII.      VIII.     New Business:  John Williams will chair a sub-committee to review our US SAILING Area
structure.  It has been brought to the attention of the Multihull Council that the demographics
of sailing is changing. Many of our constituents are sailing in warmer climates, so we are
finding some Areas with less representation. It is the task of the committee to initiate a review
of the viability of each Area. They are expected to offer a report to the MHC at the next AGM.

Respectfully Submitted,

Deborah K. Schaefer,
Secretary
