Inshore Committee


The Inshore Committee serves the interests of one-design class racing and small boat sailors. Its main purpose is to assist in building strong small boat sailing and one-design class racing programs.

The Inshore Committee

  • examines the trends and needs of one-design and small boat sailors

  • develops policies, recommendations, and programs to strengthen
    small boat participation

  • interfaces with all US SAILING committees which relate to 
    one-design and small boat sailing

  • works with the Olympic Sailing Committee to promote long-term 
    development of class racers for Olympic teams

  • assists OSC in selecting US teams to Pan Am Games

  • administers all non-Olympic, small boat Sailor's Grants

Membership of the Inshore Committee
A broad cross-section of opinion is encouraged on this committee and meetings are open.

Inshore Committee membership includes representatives of:

The Chairman of Inshore is on the US SAILING Board of Directors and the Executive Committee.

The Inshore Director, a member of US SAILING's professional staff, provides support services to the Inshore Committee, the Councils, committees with a small boat focus, one-design classes and small boat sailors. The Inshore Director is a resource for information on all one-design issues.
