Meeting called to order at 1400

Reports of IMS activity on Lake Michigan, Long Island Sound and The Florida 2001 races were given. There is in the formative process a US IMS 50 fleet, which is scheduling racing on the East Coast this summer. Don Genitempo presented information on an IMS 600 class being developed in Europe composed of production IMS boats and distributed information on that ORC approved Class

Bruce Eissner spoke on the ISAF/ORC merger and the ramification on the submission schedule, both in timing and the new path for the approval process, i.e. July is the date for submissions and the path now includes the appropriate ISAF committees.

The Offshore Directors Report was presented. Included were information on the budget situation, numbers of IMS Certificates, promotions, and concepts for upgrading the data acquisition process.

A discussion ensued relating to the activities needed to increase the amount of IMS racing in the US. A program to work with builders to provide standard hull certificates will be promoted. A fund raising campaign for acquisition of a Laser Measuring Machine will be undertaken by the IMSOC.

The IMS Committee Chair reviewed the activities of the committee as well as the developments in the rule since the last meeting of the IMSOC. This included changes instituted at the annual meeting of the ORC as well as the research and studies for rule improvement.
