US SAILOR Of The Week
Walter Cooper

Walter Cooper

Most of the cool things Walter Cooper gets to see in life are through the viewfinder of one of his trusty cameras. As a professional sailing photographer, Walter Cooper lives the life most of us would love to have: sailing the latest boat-designs, watching some of the world's most exciting races from a helicopter, and enjoying the sport of sailing from a different perspective than most of us. Walter has sailed since he was little; so little that his parents could wash him in the sink on board while cruising the North Channel of Lake Huron. He became interested in photography while in grade school and this hobby ended up paying his way through college. His favorite sport blended with his hobby when the local North Sails Loft in Detroit asked him to take some shots of a new design. Since then, sailing photography has taken Walter to many exciting places. But no matter how much traveling he does, his home in Golden, Colorado, where he lives with his wife and their 4 dogs (all Rhodesian Ridgebacks), remains one of his favorite places to be.
