49er Olympic Sailor Tim Wadlow Shares Plans for Peak Performance
For 49er sailors Tim Wadlow (Beverly, MA) and Chris Rast (Wake Forest, NC) - pictured at right - a meticulous sense of detail is crucial for a successful Olympic campaign. Wadlow explains how he and Rast are training to peak at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Sailing, which are less than five months away.

10 Questions for 49er Sailor Tim Wadlow
You and your crew, Chris Rast, started 2007 with a bang at US SAILING's Rolex Miami OCR in January. Were you happy with your fourth place result in the 49er class?
The top 24 out of 25 teams came this year, so it was a strong, international fleet. When the top teams from Britain and Spain show up, everyone else follows. It becomes the place to be. We definitely sailed really well -- and with the exception of the Medal Race, we could have easily won the regatta. We're much further along than where we thought we'd be in our development.

US SAILOR of The Week - Patricia Rosen
About five years ago, Patricia Rosen’s husband suggested that she remove the two Optimist dinghies their kids had outgrown from the garage and take them to work. It's a good thing she did. Patricia, who has worked for the Collier Parks and Recreation Department in Naples, FL, for 13 years, teamed up with a local school to identify 8 disadvantaged kids who were having difficulties, and agreed to take them sailing twice a week for free if they met certain expectations. Patricia and her supporters quickly expanded the program and it soon evolved into the Collier County Sailing Center.

Burgee Program Helps Yacht Clubs Recover from Hurricane
When Hurricane Katrina leveled Southern Yacht Club in New Orleans in August '05, the Burgee Program put the club back in business in record time. "It was invaluable for the insurance company to rise to the occasion in such an early fashion and handle our claims expeditiously," said Corky Potts, past commodore of Southern Yacht Club. "Representatives were on the scene as soon as practical and I believe we had our claims settled and paid before Christmas after the storm." The Burgee Program is endorsed by US SAILING, underwritten by CHUBB and managed by Gowrie, Barden & Brett. 1-800-262-8911.
