Casey and Williams Win U.S. Multihull Championship
Racing at the U.S. Multihull Championship was exciting until the last day, Saturday, when no wind showed up on the waters off host club Melbourne Yacht Club in Melbourne, FL. For John Casey (Longwood, FL) and John Williams (Jacksonville, FL), that was good news. The two Floridians demonstrated a very consistent performance throughout the regatta by winning every race they competed in, earning the National Championship title and US SAILING's Hobie Alter Cup. It wasn't as easy for the winners as it sounds, Casey/Williams were closely followed by Olympic medalist and US Sailing Team member John Lovell and his wife Katy Pilley-Lovell (both from New Orleans, LA), who finished second in every race. Third place went to John and Tiffany Tomko (both from Canyon Lake, TX).

JOLogo_2007Junior Olympic Sailing Festivals: 2007 Schedule Announced
US SAILING has determined the 2007 schedule of its USA Junior Olympic Sailing Festival (JO) program. The series of 22 events are held at sailing organizations in the continental United States and Hawaii. In sailboat racing, it’s important to get a good start—not just on the starting line, but as a young sailor. With support from sponsors West Marine, Gill, and Active.com, US SAILING’s JO program is designed to do just that: give young sailors between the ages of 8 and 21 the opportunity to learn, enjoy the fun and excitement of competitive sailing, and develop skills for a lifelong involvement in the sport.
